Their crusades are high media events, such as illegal immigrants, but could care less about a CITIZEN who has been paying taxes for 20 years. Their latest is trying to get driver's licenses for questionable immigrants. Don' forget they try to take down Christmas trees every year, yet defend a Muslim woman who wanted to cover her face with a veil for her license picture.

Seriously, what do you think do ACLU does for you? Go to their web site and see that their hot topics of the day are supporting illegal immigrants and acti-war protesters, anything to get them press!!!!

Soon as they agreed to help defend Fred Phelps' insanely evil anti-American protests of military funerals, I knew they had crossed over into the absurd. Yes, they are a joke. But I'm not laughing.

I've always been independent in my views and was never into the left right horse **** but even so, I used to give the ACLU a fair shake but it's clear they are a JOKE. They are just another Pretend-We-Care organization who would rather micro-manage who does what in the privacy of their own homes than they would actually fight for the rights of some handicapped person who was beaten half to death by corrupt police officers for no reason. Now I can certainly see why a lot of younger kids are hoodwinked so easily by them, I've been on their website and to give the devil their due, they DO write really good articles but then that's about all they do. Last I knew, there was nothing at all that they said they could do about a police man that unjustly killed his son in my state (even with video evidence) because they were too busy up in NY micro-managing how men were allowed to sit on subways. Even they are often too scared to go up against bad cops and others if the the pay's not enough. Overall it's bad advice to trust any lawyer because they are allowed to lie to you by law. The ACLU should be disbanned forever and another, better group replace it. The ACLU is for the gullible and young impressionable kids that don't understand that Civil Liberties apply to people in the US you don't like too.

I used to think they were alright, but now for every one case they covered that I agreed with, there would be five which I would be saying "What for?"
They defended KKK members for their free speech rights, yet brought legal action against the county of Los Angeles to take off from its official seal a small cross that represented the influence of the California missions.
With so many people on both sides disliking them, where do they get their funding?

The ACLU does take unpopular causes but they are causes that are seek to defend the rights of American citizens. From the days of Monkey Trial to even defending Rush Limbaugh.

With what you don't understand comes what you DO get......where in the world did you think your entitlements came from? It's rfom organizations like the ACLU working hard to ensure that you have defined labor hours, commiserate wages, medical assistance whether thru the private/public programs, education, the right to offend others with your speech.....organizations like that serve minority groups because the assumptions is that govt is working for the majortiy interest

Somebody has to swing the pendulum to the other side. I don't agree with everything they do, but I think they help to "balance" society.
And just for the record - the saying is - they COULDN'T care less. If they COULD care less - then I'm sure they would. This is a very common mistake and it always bugs me. Sorry - just had to point it out.

They also offered to help defend Rush Limbaugh from prosecution when he was popping prescription pain pills faster than Rosie O'Donnell downs twinkies.
That said, I decided that I have no use for them once they started defending NAMBLA.
Do those people have a RIGHT to legal representation? I suppose... But does that mean you, as a lawyer, are OBLIGATED to take their case? Uh, no...

They are a joke, but I'm not laughing. If we would remove them from the federal teat and make them pay their own court costs instead of making the taxpayer do it, they would quit filing so many lawsuits with a liberal socialistic slant.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. They're supposed to be defenders of religious freedom, but apparently it's only certain religions.
