im am very frustrated about my sleeping patterns. i wake up several times a night and eat and do not know I am doing it. I know the nights I have done it becuase I feel sick to my stomach the next morning and food wrappers are laying around the house. When I first try to fall asleep (like as soon as my head hits the pillow) I start having these (sometimes) nightmares and sometimes regular dream images. I cant really consider them dreams becuase I am half awake half asleep. I have tries all the methods of getting sleep (no caffine, etc.) the only thing I have not done is trying sleeping pills which I do not want to do. Any help would be great thanks.

You need to really prepare yourself for bed at night. Starting an hour before your bedtime, stop using electronics(TV, computer, radio, etc.) as they are all stimulating. Spend the hour before bed just relaxing, maybe doing some reading. Enjoy a cup of herbal tea, preferably chamomile because that will relax you as well. Enjoy a hot bath if that suits you. Just do anything and everything you can to relax during that time and I think you'll find it easier to fall asleep and more importantly STAY asleep. If you continue to have problems, you may want to check out hypnosis. No joke! The site below has recordings you can download and burn to a CD. They cover a variety of issues, including insomnia. Good luck!
