usually it has nothing to do with the realestate agent but banks, lawyers, etc.. They can only move forward when things are settled.

NEW ANSWER (after further details added)
Estate agent? Are you buying the house? If you are talking about landlords then it sounds like you are renting which is then a letting agent. You should give the correct details first time.
ORIGINAL ANSWER
I hate estate agents too but this scenario isn't normally their fault.
You've probably got some moron at the end of the chain who forgot to apply for his mortgage and is holding everything up.
But give the estate agent hell anyway.
Good luck.

Sometimes if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. All an agent is, is a person making life easier on you. They do nothing that you couldn't do. I've bought 1 house and built one house, no agent and it wasn't that hard. The banker does most of the work. Fire that lazy bastard.

Tell your agent when you want to move dont let them push u around they are working for you not the other way around. if the 21st is not convienent tell them when youll move just make sure it is after when the place is "available"(if they dont like it, they can take it or leave it) and theyre not going to leave it, they need your business.

Why blame the agent? It's more likely to be the seller of the house or person renting it?
Can you contact them directly?

It sounds like you are renting. Why use a real estate agent to rent a place to live?

the more you bug them the more they seem to take their time - pretend your not really interested in moving in before Xmas - that should make them think about their commission
