What are some good ways of making money in World of Warcraft?

depends on your level.

if you're 60 - do all the quests you haven't done before - the money you get adds up quickly... i quested for a few hours the other morning and made nearly 30 gold from the quest turn ins alone. (and do them before the expansion pack... less money for them once the quests start granting xp again).

at any level you can grind on humanoids... money, cloth, green drops you can put on the AH.

take up a gathering profession and sell what you get - you can make a lot of money selling herbs (not so much the really low level ones, but at the higher levels you can clean up!)

if you're an alchemist, do arcanite transmutes every chance you get for people for money. if you're a tailor, farm felcloth and turn it into mooncloth and put it up on the AH (worth way more than the felcloth alone).

if you're 60 and a sturdy class, go farm the deadmines, gnomer or SM (again, gold, cloth and lots of low level green goodies you can auction).

Depending on your class you can farm places for good drops. Some people farm for uniques and rares and such. What I did was farm in Felwood and get felcloth and rune cloth. They sell for a good amount. And every once and awhile you will find a (cant remember name sorry) purple weapon and/or item.
