no, just you dude. he was great, no doubt, but that's not underated now is it? How about Teppo Numinem? That's underated.

Well, he's not really "underrated" if he gets enough votes to get on all-star teams, win a Norris trophy and a Conn Smythe trophy. He was known as pretty much having the hardest shot in the NHL when he was around.

I think I guy like Larry Murphy was more underrated. He may even be in the Hall (not sure) but he flew in under the radar. Was on so many terrific Cup (and Canada Cup) teams and racked up pts--steady but not flashy.

Not when he was playing.. he was well respected.. Ronnie Francis was more underrated then him.

I rememebr when he and Brett Hull would take the points on a power play when they played for the blues... The hardest with the most accurate shot...

1. Brett Hull
2. Al Macinnis

He's going to make the Hall of Fame, no doubt, and his number's been retired by at least one team. That's not sooooo underrated.

Dallas Smith, Teppo Numminen, Brad MacCrimmon, Brent Sutter, Ron Tugnutt

now those are/were very underrated guys.

Al McInnis was overrated if anything. He had a hard slapshot. Good offensive defenseman, not so great at defense. There are lots of defensemen I'd put ahead of him: Bobby Orr, Ray Borque, Denis Potvin, even Paul Coffey.

COMPLETELY UNDERRATED

Thank God that the Blues Retired His Number

I've been a BLUES FAN ALL MY LIFE (Even when we sucked and suck, like right now...)

Had they never retired his number, I'd have to become a RED WINGS Fan b/c he's a great player, great man (I've met him a couple of times), & SHOULD GO INTO THE HOF (HALL OF FAME)

who the hell says he is underrated, hes been one of the most talked about defence man in the NHL since the 80's and one of the top scorers among all defence in the history of the NHL. he was great at his own end and he racked up the points as well. he would definitely be on my top 10 list fro most best defence in the NHL history. who ever said he was underrated don't pay enough attention to hockey cause he was one of the most talk about through his NHL career.

and like what fugutasti... said about Larry Murphy know that's a great defence men that was underrated but he played on a team that wasn't talk about to much the Los Angeles Kings, but Murphy's in the HHOF.

He has to be one of the most under rated of all time. He played a lot of games in Calgary and they don't get much exposure in the eastern US and Canada where a majority of the teams are located.

No, he is not underrated. He was a good player and he got the respect he deserved. I agree with other people that there are much better defensemen who did not get their due respect.

I would have to concur. He was rather underrated. Another thing you could add is he won a couple of Hockey's hardest shots competitions at the All-Star games. He could shoot in the mid-high 90's, rather impressive I'd say.
