Unless they're Aboriginal, they don't have the right to say such. It's pretty pathetic when non-indigenous people tell others to "go home."
Nobody should be that mean at all.

It makes me so sad to read this. I am Australian and Muslim too, although I no longer live in Australia and am not a religious Muslim in the least, I see it as more a part of my heritage and culture rather than a religion I actively follow, that would definitely offend me. Whereabouts do you live in Australia? I am from Melbourne, and that's very sad, as it was always relatively a very tolerant place. Australia is also a country that really is made up of various cultures due to immigration. Remember that 'I am, you are, we are Australian' song that was always on tv? It was cheesy but true!
Also boonietecwhatever below should learn to read the question - you never said that you weren't accepting of Australia's culture, you said that you are proud of it!

I don't tell them to go home but when they are bringing other countries woes here & get out in the street & rave on about their old home
yes that does annoy me but i have never been rude to any stranger in the street etc
like i always say a man or woman can only be loyal to one lover
well its the same for countries
they can only be loyal to one & if its not Australia they should live where their heart is
because in time of war say it was with their country & Australia
who would they defend
not Australia i bet so that is what the problem is i think
they are not loyal to OZ
I like all people as long as they are nice

I think most people don't live where they 'came' from. I come from many different cultures and areas around the world. Technically I couldn't go anywhere someone couldn't say that to me :) Just ignore them. There is no point in getting upset, they aren't going to change. Stay strong and embrace your roots. If you must you could tell them to 'shut up'. There will always be ignorant people in the world.

it is a sad fact that in society today there are a lot of uneducated "people" out there saying whatever they want and not caring who they hurt. these people do not understand islam and i think you would be wasting your time trying to explain to the them that islam is a religion. i am catholic with a croatian background but i have read the kuran i respect and have an understanding of it(its basically the same).that comment made me offended aswell. there are always going to be stupid people out there keep your head up. not everyone is like that. salam aleikum.

Well, you need to choose which culture you want to live under, and go to the place that makes you most comfortable. Australia has a right to protect its culture and they choose to set their laws and customs to their own standards. If you don't want to accept them, why would you want to live there? I would never choose to live in an Islamic society because I do not accept their views as valid. As a US citizen, I have a great respect for what the Aussies are doing to try to protect their culture.

You will never be 100% Australian if you are half Arab, and vice versa. For some this is enough for them to want you gone.

Welcome to the religious wars, Melly. I just cannot seem to convince people that religion (or the lack of it) is person's identity and makes you neither an imperialist nor a terrorist. Fight on, else we will find ourselves in the hands of fundamentalists of various religions.

No, but I AM terribly curious as to what appeal Islam holds for women? To me it seems like such an unbelievably misogynistic religion. Seriously... why are you a Muslim? I'd like to hear it from someone who knows.
