..it is still uneven, which we were not aware of until the fitters had put down our laminate flooring. We are now being told by conservatory company that we should have waited 3-4 months before laying laminate floor. We were under the impression that once the concrete went grey it was dry and we were good to go. Who is right? We are trying to claim for the conservatory people to lift and then relay laminate, think this is why they are saying that we should have waited - when we placed order we told them we needed it up and running for Christmas - any help greatly appreciated.

3-4 months is ridiculously long. I have never seen a concrete or leveling mix that was not ready to accept a load after a month at the longest. Besides, the weight of the flooring is not enough to effect the leveling compound. They are stone walling you. Tell them if they don't fix immediately, they can add the costs of your attorney to to their repair costs.

they may have a point. Concrete dries last in the middle. it always creates some heat while drying. I haven't heard of this "rule" but it makes sense. Anything that is going to seal the natural effect of curing is going to be affected. Path of least resistance. Through the laminate or through the ground.
Concerning the claim, It would be nice to have a paper trail. Concrete schedule, laminate schedule. The people laying the laminate in a new construction should know to find out how old the floor is. By not asking you could say they were voiding their workmanship warranty. It's up to the judge and how much you want to fight. My last experience with a flooring company was all about who had the best lawyer. He had a law department. I said screw it.

What would change in 3 months?
If the floor is uneven it will be uneven forever unless someone levels it correctly.
Who was responsible for levelling the floor?
Was it the same people who laid the laminate?
The people laying the laminate should have inspected the floor before laying it and rejected it if it was outside of accepted tolerances.
Our company levels floors and we also lay all types of laminate flooring and vinyls, usually on the next day or as soon as floor is dry.

I put down laminate the day after the self leveling was put on and still no problems. They did a crappy job and they know it but don't want to have to pay up. I would get estimates on how much to fix and how other contractors would have done the job. compare the costs and techniques of the companies. If the original doesn't fix it now you would have a good grounds for a lawsuit. i think you are going to have a hard time getting it done by Xmas but maybe that will be your present for having patients through this whole ordeal.

In my opinion, you waited long enough, they are telling you rubbish. Once the floor has gone grey it would not have got any more level. The conservatory company should have screeded the floor level without using self leveling if they were competent.
