She cries a great deal as she pushes, with no luck. It's only been 2 days, I know that's normal, but she was up 2 hours straight last night crying while she pushed.

When children get constipated unfortunately there is no quick easy fix. What you want to do in the future is make sure that this doesn't happen by giving her a diet high in fiber. This also depends on how old your child is. A good solution is to give a little prune juice daily to keep the bowel movements soft for her. If this doesn't work they do sell children's .laxatives over the counter which help to soften stool for children who have recurrent constipation, which are very safe to use. What I would do for now is give a little prune juice and a senocot, laxative, if the child is old enough. Some times allowing the to poop in the bathtub helps because their bodies relax more when submerged in water, I would also recommend to put a little Vaseline on her rectum to ease the pain a bit. If the child is very young you can try to stimulate her with a thermometer.

It depends on how old is your baby and is she breastfed. Breastfed babies will struggle and get red in the face and have a normal BM Also is your child indeed constipated? When she has a BM is it hard pellets or normal. If hard, use the karo syrup advice. Baby prune juice can cause more cramping. The rectal stimulation idea also is good-insert a thermometer and many times baby will go immediately! I f she has spells of crying then other times she is fine, she is probably ok, but if these symptoms persist or get worse call your doctor. Good luck!

First of all give her some infants tylonal to help with pain. Next try some apple juice just 2 or 3 ounces. if that does not work call your doctor and find out if you can get some Colace. Warning though the Colace has a very strong flavoring in it so it may take your childs breath away for a few seconds and we always give it with juice. If worse comes to worse take a rectal thermometer and insert just into her bottom only go in until you cover the little silver thing at end of thermometer. that should bring some out.

According to her age... It might loosen her stools if she were given some JUICE. Find one that she does not use and water it down slightly then give her Juice ONLY until the bowel movement occurs today. It is also possible that she has a stomach ache. If she doesn't have a movement soon contact a physician about it or go to a clinic. I hope that this helps. I hope you have a better day today.

She is constipated and needs more fluids. Try pedialyte or a little juice. Only give her 2-3 oz. a day or you could hurt her. Also, try putting her on your lap, but leave her rear hanging over so there is no pressure. Some of the pushing could be gas.

You can try to give her some corn syrup mixed with water. Just a tiny bit of syrup though or some prune juice mixed with water too may help. Also you can bend her knees up to her chest and down again. Do this a few times in a row, it helps her to push.

My doctor suggested to put about a teaspoon of dark Kayro syrup in water. That will make her drink more water- she probably just needs a little more liquid. You can also buy some baby suppositories to use (not often) but on occasion when she is really constipated

ok this might seem a little gross and perverted. at least thats what i thought when the dr provided little finger condoms and told me when my infant son was constipated to put a finger condom on well lubricated and insert it about half an inch(MAKE SURE YOU DONT PUT IT IN TO FAR!!!) in his rectum and this would help. well it did and i know that my son was in alot less pain. i know this is gross but if your a mommie you can do it. sometimes the feces is positioned in well in not to comfortable of a position and you can usually feel it and your able to move it around a little making it easier to come out..... sorry if i grossed any body out just passing on my past experience. ps dont tell my son i told you.

Poor thing!!!! Try to bicycle her legs. It worked wonders with my daughter. Also, if that doesn't work, you can pick up glycerin suppositories from the drug store that you insert into her bottom but please talk to her doctor first before doing that to make sure it's ok. We had to resort to this a couple times and it works really well but be prepared for a blowout! Good luck!
