heard this from a commercial on virgin radio, and i couldn't figure out what's the answer..

Stairs can refer to the flight of stairs as well as to the stairs themselves (collective)

Steps can be lots of things that are not stairs: ladders, a one-up step at an entrance way, the kerb, the way you put one foot in front of the other (general)

Well stairs is alot of steps. So i would call 7 or less steps, steps but 7 or more steps, stairs. Does that makes sence?

It's like that question, how many is a few?

Steps are the individual pieces. Stairs are a grouping of steps. A number of people mis-use steps.

i think that staris are on the inside of a building and steps are on the outside. Or it might be steps to do something like step one: blah blah blah blah. step two: etc. Or it might be steps are the past tense or stairs or the opposite way sorry if the answer was confusing.

stairs is the collective name for a flight of steps, while steps could be any number of like doorsteps,placing one foot in front of the other, the routine in a dance, etc.
