Do you know how to read music? Can you hold a tune? Most of today's "Artists" can't. Do you have good sense about you -- knowing when to sing a popular song and when to pull out a virtual unknown? How big is your range?
If you can do most of these, then my recommendation would be to start a collection or kareoke CDs and practice, practice, practice. Learn how to make a song your own. Then start entering talent shows. Join the choir at school and church. Sign up for your local 4-H talent show. Get involved with your local theater. Be prepared to hear "No" an awful lot. Don't give up. Take singing lessons. Get a voice coach. After you've been around the block a time or two, look at renting s studio and cutting a demo.
Being good isn't about luck, about being at the right place at the right time. It's about practicing night and day. Good music is made through a lot of blood, sweat and tears. It's not about who you know -- if you're good enough, "They" will activily seek you out.

Well, considering all the useless pop/rock, pop, "rap", and "hip-hop talent we have out there now (what ever happened to actually livening up a music video every now and then, or even stop rapping about smoking blunts, rims, and a**, and stop making this teeny bopper f***in pan*y a** music we call pop?.

I can remember a while back around 92' when MTV actually played music. Artists like ZZ Top, Soundgarden, Ozzy, Powerman 5000, Hatebreed, Sepultura, etc. and i was perfectly happy with that. But now, MTV has literally turned into a f*g channel.

So, getting back to your question.......I think its very easy, even Ronny Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd an get a record deal (AND HE'S DEAD!).

You don't "become" a singer... singing is just something you do. Even the Greats. Especially the Greats. You follow your bliss, follow your heart, sing your heart out there, and it will happen or it won't...

That will kill you if you're doing it for the wrong reasons. If you're doing it because you love to sing, though, you'll be golden. =)

Unless your a really really good singer, its nearly impossible unless you have the right links to people...you have to know alot of people who could get you into the music world.
