for the night. In the morning I drove home because i forgot to pack a pair of socks that I must wear in uniform. well when i pulled up i tried to open the garage but he turned off the power to it. I know it sounds weird but i don't have a house key because we ALWAYS use the garage. So i called him and asked him to let me in and he asked why and i said because my things are in there and live in that house too and he just wouldn't let me in. So then i get to work hoping no one noticing me missing my socks. I try to log in to yahoo to send him an e-mail but he changed my own password to my own email account so i had to create a new one (the one i'm using right now) he has today off but when i get home if he doesn't let me in the house what can i do?? can he really do this?? can i call the police because he won't even let me get clean clothes or anything?? i don't want us to get divorced but this is very immature behavior and i am so confused right now. thanks everyone.

Is your name on the house? If so, you are also the owner and he really can't keep you out of your home. If he won't let you in, I'd call the cops anyway so you could get your things.

No he can't do that. Even if your not on the lease or whatever, you reside there and you get mail at that address and you do have a key to a door to that house. Which you do not give back until you get all your stuff. If he still won't let you in, call the police to handle the situation. If he is not, call a locksmith to get in and if and when he shows up there and wants to continue to fight. Call the police at that instant to. If your not entitled to the house in anyway, you have 30 days to vacate and he would have to go to the courthouse to file for an eviction notice to serve you with. If he did throw your stuff out without a legal notice you could take him to court, really. And you would win. The police would explain all this to you both and make you aware of your rights. I guarantee his mood will change. Nothings worse than a pissed off woman.... Good luck!!!

No he can not do this darling. You have a right, we do not live in a third world where husbands rule their wives, we live in developed countries. You can take police action on him & if this matter goes to divorce ( which I hope it doesn’t and you sort things out ), half of everything he has IS YOURS by the law. Don’t let him get away with being a bint, if he still doesn’t let you in then I suggest you go to a member of family & if you don’t have any, try seeking help from some friends but don’t waste money on staying in hotels. Soon you will have nothing. But contact the POLICE immediately. Best of luck

He can't keep you out of the matrimonial home. You should never leave - when you walk away it looks like you don't want to be there. I would stay there - like a thorn in his side. Why does your husband know your passwords? There are some things that you should keep to yourself, especially when you have a spiteful controlling husband. Don't give him the opportunity to screw you over. Get yourself a house key!!! Call the police - they'll have a chat with him.

The police will give you a escort into the house to get your things. If you plan on staying , get a key made, you are married to a child! why not get a divorce? He sounds like a real creep!!!! What MAN makes a women leave and get a hotel room, it should have been him!!!!!!!!!!!

He has no legal right to keep you locked from your house. Despite that its considered "joint property" he can be arrested for a misdomeanor charge of something like "disorderly conduct".

Once you get back in be civil by saying only this..."If you want to keep me out of the house then file for a divorce and we'll see who becomes the resident here once the divorce is settled".
See if that jolts him back to normalcy.

No, he can't legally lock you out of your own home. If he won't let you in today, then call the cops. May I suggest you guys see a marriage counselor. Good luck.

Call the police and have them meet you at the house. I guarantee he'll open the door then!

if you own the house as well, like your name is on the deed or whatever, he can't do it. even if it isn't, he still has to give you 30 days to get out because you have established residency in that house.
