After the failure of the taking of Moscow, a lots of German officers were dismissed by Hitler, specially those who critized Hitler's choices (by changing the priority of Moscow, or reaffect the Panzerdivisions without any tactical considerations). So von Rndstedt and Guderian were dismissed.
Between the end of 1941 and 1943, Guderian hadn't any important task or responsabilities. After the defeat in Stalingrad, he was in charge of the "Panzerwaffe "(the all tank organisation). Under his command, the Panzerwaffe became more and more important, knowing the fact that the "Panzer" were created according to the officers desires (to have always more efficient Panzer). As this position, he had a real influence, and was one of the very fiew officers who could discus Hitler's choices. Finalyy, he became Chief of Staf the 21th of July 1944, until his final dismish on March 28th 1945.

He was appointed as Head of Supreme Headquarters, Army (OKH - Ober-Kommando Heere) but his hands were tied as Hitler had appointed himself as commander in chief of all German forces & OKH was subordinated to the Supreme Headquarters, Armed Forces (OKW - Ober-Kommando Wehrmacht).

Guderian was subsequently sacked & replaced for speaking what Hitler did not want to hear.

After he was dismissed he eventually became in change of rebuilding and reforming the Panzer divisions, but I dont think he ever held another front command.
