this one lady asked me to clean her tenants apartment, and i dont know what to charge, so i said $10, she said it would probally take 2-3 hrs to finish. do yu think i should call her back and ask her to see the apartment first and then give her a different price if i see its too dirty? At first she told me $8 so i said $10. Or do you think its too late to change my mind about the price if i see the apartment is really dirty?

It depends on how old you are. Considering it's less than minimum wage, $10 would be appropriate for a teenager.

I would charge per hour, instead of set a price for the whole project, especially when you haven't even seen it. If you are over 18, charge whatever minimum wage is in your state. If you have a lot of experience, charge a little more. But don't give any more estimate without seeing the project.

Well, if she thinks you can do it in 2-3 hours I would doubt it to dirty. But 2-3 hours or work at $10/hour is only $20-$30 so you have to ask yourself how much you need the money. I probably would have asked for $50 flat unless the apartment was a total wreck and then it would be $100 flat.

It's never too late to change a price before the work is done. Keep in mind professional cleaning companies charge close to 27$ an hour per maid. An inspection is almost necessary before a quote. Good luck

I clean at a fish market on Long Island, New York and I get paid 7 dollars an hour so I think $10 sounds good and if the place is really dirty you will probably be cleaning it longer than what's expected.

you have a verbal contract. If it takes you longer than 3 hours do ask for more money but she does not have to pay you more Im sorry you should really see the apartment first then quote a price good luck

Are you joking? This woman is ripping you off. That does not even cover cleaning supplies and gas money to get there. Forty bucks is your price
