Go to the Dollar Tree or another Dollar Store. There you will find makeup, toiletries, pretty vases, dishes, and even pretty Christmas Baskets. There are Christmas Ornaments and all kinds of pens, pencils, stationery, and neat things--even toys. Everything is $1.00 or less so you could buy 5 items if you have about 50 cents more for tax. Otherwise you can buy 4.
A basket with pretty towels, soaps, or dishes and ornaments wrapped nicely would be great!

You didn't say how old she is, but if you have a World Market near you, they have really cute mini sculptures and other kinds of ethnic art. Or, if she likes food/cooking, they have different fun cookies, candies, bean soup mixes, or flavored olive oils. (I'm an older sister and I would love to get something like that!) Or, the Art Store or Dick Blicks has cute painting or drawing kits. Or why not make her an ornament or buy a cheap wood picture frame and decorate it with paint and sequins?

Stationary.

A mug.

A dish with a bag of candy in it.

A Christmas tree ornament.

Fast food coupon.

You could make her a coupon book from you....Like one could say "Good for 1 doing the dishes" or "Good for one babysetting", don't know how old she is but you get the idea. Make them pretty and put on a key ring or string together with a ribbon.

If you are a good cook, baked goods are always a welcome present! Ice cream chains like Cold Stone Creamery, Marble Slab and Baskin Robbins have gift certificates for $5. Yummy smelling votive candles are always nice too. Or, a meaningful photograph framed with an inexpensive frame would be thoughtful.

Mix applesauce and cinnamon in equal quantities. You can mold tree ornaments with the resulting dough. Air-dry and hang with a Christmas-y ribbon. Flip them over every few hours until they are dry on both sides. I use alphabet noodles to put sayings or names on mine. They smell wonderful, and even keep their scent for years if stored in air-tight sandwich bags. Just don't forget to punch out a hole for the ribbon before they are dried!
