Merry Christmas!

Let me preface the following by saying that I am Jewish: Hannukah is a nothing holiday. There's a nice sentiment behind it, but the only reason it became a gift giving holiday was so that Jewish kids wouldn't feel left out. Christmas is one of Christianity's two most holy holidays, right? There's no comparison. Kwanzaa has a nice sentiment but it is nowhere near Christmas, either, in terms of cultural or religious importance. That being said, I do not mind at all when people say Merry Christmas to me in stores, etc. instead of Happy Holidays. The other holiday is New Years - big whoop. I would never, ever correct anybody. I also don't care if there's a tree in the center of town and not a menorah (although in my town there's both, but you know what I mean). In fact, please, don't put up equal amounts of Hannukah decorations versus Christmas. Put up more Christmas. Please.

That's my rant.

As for what I say - I say one of the other, but I often say Merry Christmas.

I've always said Merry Christmas, just have, and I really hate the cards that say Happy Christmas, it's Happy New Year. Don't know why it bugs me so much.

Happy Holidays - and I'm Catholic. I say Merry Christmas to my family...but to people I don't know - just the "happy holidays" works.
