I think they are trying to hard to be crazy and random like Family Guy cos they know they have some competition!

The recent Simpsons seasons center too much on Homer and his increasingly fantastic adventures.
I like the middle seasons, when the writers had hit their stride and every character routinely got their chance to have stories about them told. Although Homer still had a crazy life then, it wasn't annoying like today, he didn't know so many celebrities and stuff like that. He's no longer an everyman like he's supposed to be.

Me. They need to stop killing the show. It's been going downhill since the 12th season. Still a few scattered laughs or an occasional great episode since then, but it's no longer consistently funny. My favorite season is the 6th.

yeh i think the standard has dropped way down, they really don't have as many laugh out loud moments as the older ones do. i'd prefer to watch an older episode i've seen ten times before than watch some of the newer ones they have!

No other show (let alone cartoon) is as intelligently satirical and skilfully observed as The Simpsons.

What I really like about them is that they use the supporting characters so well and build stories around them: moe's facelift, apu's marriage for example.
