there is nothing to be worried about, unless something drastic happens. I know a woman who was 3cm dialated and 90% effaced at 37 weeks and delivered a day after her due date.

Once you are 37 weeks, "Full Term". I had both of my girls at 37 weeks and couldnt be happier, I didnt think I would make it any longer. With my first I was only like 2 cm I believe and with my second I was 3 1/2 and she was right there on my cervix, I thought she would rip out of me! I was sooo happy and she was 6 pounds 8 ounces and they said she would have been a 9 pounder if born at 40 weeks. If your baby comes now, its ok, consider it a blessing. Best of luck to you and your baby.

Due dates are just a guess, only about 10% of women actually deliver on their due date. Don't worry if you don't make it to your due date, at 37 weeks most pregnancies are considered full-term. Your baby should be just fine. Also, you can dialate and efface for several weeks before you actually give birth. If your Obstetrician isn't concerned, then you shouldn't be either. If you are, just ask her if it is something to be concerned about. Thinning and softening at your point in pregnancy is actually a good thing, it will most likely give you a quick and easy labor!
good luck!

you are 37 weeks pregnant even if you give birth now you are having a full term baby , you are only considered premature if you deliver before 37 weeks , you are fine if you have the baby soon , he/she is just in there gaining weight and waiting to be corn , he/she will be healthy , but i think you have a bit of time you could very well hold off until 40 Weeks congratulations and good luck

I was 2 cm dilated at 37 weeks and 60% effaced. I was hoping I wouldn't make it to my due date(it's Christmas day) however...here I am almost 9 weeks 3cm and 80% effaced and no baby and I've tried almost everything to have her come. I even had my membranes stripped last week and still no baby. I wouldn't worry about it...woman walk around for weeks sometimes dialted and effaced and still have overdue babies. At 37 weeks even if you did have your baby it would be full term . No worries.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. Some women never really "drop" until labor and some carry low the whole time. I wouldn't worry about making it to your due date. Even if you go early you're already full term now anyhow.

Well, I don't think you should be alarmed if your o.b isn't. You are pretty far along. Baby ariving either two weeks before or two weeks after your due date if fine. At least it didn't start thinning at 32 weeks. Then you would be on bed rest. Anyway, if your o.b isn't worried then I wouldn't worry.

There is nothing to worry about. Your baby will be perfectly fine born at this time.

Not at all, you can even dialate and still carry for several weeks.
