breakfast is important to keep your blood sugar levels from spiking up and down. It's also important because if you don't eat something, say an apple or toast, by the time you do eat you eat more than you need because your body will say you are starving. It's important to eat regular sized meals throughout the day with a few extra snacks. It's not time to "eat for two" this can cause too much weight gain...an extra 200 - 500 calories a day is enough to have a very healthy baby and not put on more than 20-25 LBS of good weight (Talk to your OBGYN for the Number of calories for You!) Also...talk to your OBGYN about what to eat and what not to eat, it depends on where you live as to what fish not to eat, or what local specialties should be off your list. Don't feel guilty if you want a Chocolate Malt or deep fried foods or have another craving for food that isn't the healthiest...just remember as with most anything....in moderation = not bad. Best of luck!

Yes.
Three meals a day,
plenty of different fruit and vegetables, preferably 'home grown' ALWAYS washed/cleaned especially from a store as they are coated with chemicals to make them look better.
Milk
Well cooked fish, white meat, not too much red meat
Make sure everything is cooked thoroughly, if it needs cooking that is.
And a small glass of red WINE every so often, YES YOU CAN! lol, new research has found it improves the blood circulation if you have a small amount of alcohol!

NHS says "The Department of Health (UK) recommends drinking no more than one or two units of alcohol once or twice a week when pregnant"

One of the best things for a developing baby is folic acid, eat foods like broccoli, spinach, oranges, asparagus, green peas and liver. Calcium is also very important , get enough lowfat milk and cheeses. Drink alot of water, stay away from caffeinated, acidic and alcoholic beverages (not only bad for baby but may increase heartburn while you are pregnant). Also try to stay away from too much salt, as it will make swelling from water retention in your extremities worse. Okay to satisfy a couple cravings here and there. Otherwise just make sure you eat a balanced diet and take your prenatal vitamins.

became your wellbeing care specialist worried? If no longer, then your weight income is probable healthful, noticeably in case you've been underweight once you began. The 20-30 pound weight income hardship-free is a practise that would not continuously in fantastic condition each human being. Take your cues from what your wellbeing care specialist recommends, and do not obsess about the numbers. yet another threat is that the dimensions will be extremely off. Does your wellbeing care specialist have more desirable than one exam room (because the scales may be off from room to room)? the burden income turns into more desirable dramatic those very previous couple of weeks before you supply delivery, because the infant is fairly starting up to fill in, too. final analysis: in the journey that your wellbeing care specialist isn't worried, then attempt no longer to be (rigidity may be worse for you and your infant than some more desirable pounds). Congratulations, actually some more desirable weeks to pass!

A good mix of fresh vegetables (for vitamins and minerals), high quality protein, foods high in folic acid and a good pre-natal vitamin.

As you progress, be sure to drink a lot of kilm (or eat foods with calcium) to develop skeletal structures.

As for breakfast, because the first trimester is usually associated with 'morning sicness' it is okay to refrain from eating breakfast if you can't stomach it (no pun intended), just make sure you eat throughout the day to make up for the skipped meal.

Eat lots of oatmeal.

I know this sounds weird, but when I was pregnant with my daughter, I read that certain food promote brain growth. It was a list of yucky food except for oatmeal. So I ate oatmeal every morning for breakfast.

My daughter, now 23, was excepted into MENSA at the age of 7.

So, you say this was genetics, but I didn't eat oatmeal with my son and he dropped out of school at 15. He's not stupid by any means, but he would never get into MENSA.

The way I figure it, just eat the oatmeal !!!

you need to eat every meal and eat in between as well, whenever you are hungry. don't worry about the weight, it will drop off after the baby is born. go get yourself a copy of "what to expect when you're expecting" by heidi murkoff (author's name may be spelled wrong, but the bookstore will know) it has an entire section about what's called the "best odds diet" about how to eat best during pregnancy, with sample menus and recipes as well. it was my bible during pregnancy. I am suprised your ob-gyn didn't give you a copy, mine did. anyway, go get that book, it's an enornmous help.

Folic Acid is sooooooooo important to take in the first stages of pregnancy, so the baby doesnt get spina-bifida, drink pure orange juice, and remember to take your prenatel vitamins, your apetite will increase as the months go by.

everything you eat goes thru your child so all the basic food groups are important. if you are anything like I was my first month it was crackers, toast, or plain lay's chips and water. everything that looked good or sounded good made me sick up until my 2nd month. good luck
