There is only two or three possible ways to end this war. One is just pull out and let the Middle East blow apart at the seams. Which it will. I believe that whether or not you believe we should have gone into Iraq we cannot leave now. My persoanal opinion. Based on the fact that the Saudis have already stated that they will get involved if we leave. Basically it would be a war between Iran and possibly Syria against Saudi Arabia. With Al-Qaida as a third party since both Saudi and Iran hate them. With Iraq as the battle ground. Imagine the cost of gas then. Both sides will do whatever it takes to stop the other from shipping oil as it is their only source of Income and without it they ocould not sustain a war
The only other options are to really train the Iraqis well enough to govern if they will. A VERY BIG IF!
Option # 3 is cut the head off the monster that creates the problems. That would be Iran. They are funding the insurgent militias in Iraq and Lebanon both. The possiblity is that with Iran bulding Nukes and talking of destroying Israel, that Israel will take care of that for us. The only thing I fear is that since the Iranians have hardened shelters that Israel will use Nukes to ensure thay actually get their plants. If Israel started a conventional war to take out Iran they would have to fight all of the Middle East.

In theory yes,

Practice probably not so much. I believe the troops on the ground would be enough if the politicans would stay out of the way and let the generals of the military handle the war and the fighting.

War in the modern age has gotten to pretty. With all the smart bomb tech and fancy toys. Sure it is great. But, we need to just fight the war not sit around the "green zone" waiting for the next IDE report and go have a look see.

Get out there and take the fight to the enemy. You cant expect to hold up in one corner of a city wating for the enemy to fill in the rest. That crap would have never flew with any of the Generals of WW2. They would have leveled the city and then cleaned it house to house.

Nothing like a draft to make people question the validity of a war.

good question, but i really doubt that the draft would sta in place long enough to have an affect on the length of the war. I know i would be worried if they re-instated it, but i think that so many more people are opposed to the war these days, there would be massive protests everywhere, and i would be right in there with them.

No, because the military would get a lot of mis-fits and cry baby liberals who want to be hippies, except they like their daddies' money too much.
