You neglected to include the 40s and 50s.
The 40s gave us some incredible big bands, entertainers and writers. Countless future artists have covered these classic tunes. The songs will be around for a long time.
The 50s were a music explosion in the USA; the birth of rock and roll.
The 60s built upon the 50s, and with the addition of new electronics, gave us an even richer, more interesting sound.
The late 60s and early 70s gave us some of the finest, most talented rock/pop performers in history. I really don't need to start listing all the names here. It's a fact.
The 80s were basically "light trade" when it came to music. Most of it couldn't even begin to compare with the early 70s.
Each decade produced its own stars, but I do not feel that most of the new performers in the last 25 years can compare in overal talent and quality to those before them.
There are a few exceptions: Michael Buble, jazz groups such as Rippingtons, Sypro Gyra, Fatburger, Fourplay, Diana Krall.

The Nineteen Fifties were the biggest as maximum songs from then were coated in each and every decade when you consider that, yet i'd ought to say the end of the 60s/early 70s at the same time as rock music began to modify

I love the disco music of the 70s - it's got a great beat and it's so much fun to dance to. There are songs I like from every decade though, but none prior to 1970.

i would say 70's because all of the rock from that era was just killer... but the whole Disco thing (even though it only lasted about 20 minutes) reall pulls away from it....
So I'm going to go with the 80's... the birth of rap (you know when it actually took skill to do... not just cussing), the big Hair Metal Bands, the whole New Wave/Duran Duran/Tears for Fears thing. and some of the best Country ever ( not this pop in disguise crap!!!)
So I have to go with the eighties over all...
as for just Rock... the 70's

I like the 90's. Those were my teenage years and that music brings back some really good high school memories.
