Every year I am given a Pointsettia and although I am pretty good with house plants, every Pointsettia I have every had quickly drops all its bracts and I end up with just a few leaves and stems. What am I doing wrong?

that is perfectly normal. What you want todo is going to sound severe but it really works. After you're left with just a few leaves, trim the plant down to the main stalk(s), laeave only 2 or 3". The higher the humidity the better it'll do. Next, make sure to place the plant in a sunny southern location(to catch as much sun as possible) keep watered but not soaked - do NOT let the soil dry out completely. When you trim the stalks you'll see white milk coming out, dont worry its normanl, but poisionous and sticky, wash your hands thoroughly after handling the plant anytime. You should see new sprouts coming in like 4-5 days, 10 at the most.

I've had mine for over ten years now

Poinsettias are from Central America. They like rather dry soil. So I would be very careful with how much water you're giving it. If kept reasonably dry (don't let it wilt) it'll do well. It needs lots of light. It's a tropical plant, after all. In fact, I had a Poinsettia Tree outside my window growing up on a U.S. Army base in Panama.

You most probably have central heating that dries out the air too much, put it in a cooler area with plenty of indirect natural light.

pointsettia are very temperature sensitive. Is your house too hot or too cold for it?
