Yes and probably it will be within the next ten years. Consider four intense typhoons hitting the Philippines within a month, the killer earthquake-tidal wave that was so powerful that it actually altered the earth's rotation, and some of the warmest temperatures on record. All of this seems to be increasing in intensity. Some have called the earth a living organism which man has trashed and the earth is making a swift correction. The rapid melting of the polar ice caps in itself is a good indication of this rapid change. Where will it all lead? Nobody knows , we are in uncharted territory.

At the end of the first WW, a flu pandemic circulated around the Globe. It particular wiped out millions in the west. The strange thing about this flu was that it didn't start to spread until all the soldiers where back home. It killed more people than the war.
Travelling wasn't as advanced as it is today.
There weren't as many people about.
People live in tightly packed communities.
I think when it finally strikes it will be catastrophic.

Since by definition catastrophic events are noncontinuous and therefore not predictable, no one knows. The more predictable question would be do you think humans will find some excuse to kill other humans and the answer is a definite yes.

Mass plague that affected 99.99 percent of the population. Asteroid hits earth, only people who can hole up with enough supplies live. Alien invasion Or have something like Battlestar galactica where humans have one starship out in space with a few thousand people on it and then the earth gets destroyed.

Probably but it will be caused by humans. Events like the tsunami may become more common due to humanity's damaging effects on the environment but I think the real disasters will be even more direct.
