God damn! Why have you got so much room in your brain to wonder all these things all the time?! You get me wondering and my little brain can't cope with it all!

It has been spelt this was for the last 500 years.
Earlier, was also spelt 'anticke'.
Even earlier, it is from the Latin...'antiiquus', meaning existing earlier.

It comes from Latin, then the French, hence the qu, but you could not change it because the alternative spelling means something different. You know, as "We are sick and tired of the antics of some people on this website!"
