The Giver by Lois Lowry. I have found it on the internet for free. It's kind of a strange story, but I am really enjoying it. The author has another book (the title escapes me!) that I plan to start on after I finish this one. Also, check out "Letourneau's Used Auto Parts" by Carolyn Chute. It has some mature language and sex, but it's a pretty darn good book! Good luck!

I really enjoyed A Clockwork Orange and 1984, but it depends on the age of the teenager. These books are for teens 15 and up.

there can not be something like "the best..." Since there are many many good options. Classics and contemporary as well.
