I see so many valid questions being asked about things that people have strong views on and a lot of replies seem to be very defensive as if the responders are being attacked personally.

Does this reflect the current state of global relations?
Are we acting this way as a result of having to 'defend our way of life' in so many ways?

We all have different moods, beliefs, likes and loathings....but a lot of the time i believe it is just that we are on a different cultural wavelength.
Without question, we all have a vastly differing sense of humour; the consequence being that our interpretation is often dependant on how the question is phrased.

What's it to you!!!!!

Seriously though, people don't like having their beliefs challenged. Religion in particular is something many people hold on to because it comforts them to know people they are about are happy and in heaven and no matter how reasonable the arguments they're not going to want to accept it.

I think intelligent, ethical people can defend their beliefs or views with logic and rationality without getting personal.

You're right. Attacking people who ask valid questions makes these people feel superior, they need to attack the person to make themselves look like they are better, smarter and they have to cut others down to make themselves feel better. That is the way of the world today.

I think that some of the people on here would be too cowadly to ask some of the questions they ask here in real life.

I think some people are just being jerks. I bet a lot of the answers you see wouldn't come up if this was all face-to-face.

I don't see why you feel the need to bring this up, frankly. I find your question to be intrusive in the extreme.

What are you getting at?
