not sure what age group that makes a difference; glass jar with all the dry ingredients to make a particular type of cookie , put the items in the jar in layers so it looks nice from the outside as well; tied with ribbon and attach the cookie recipe via through ribbon around the neck of the jar ( for example chocolate chip cookies) etc; 2. a favorite picture and have it put on a mug etc costs less than 15 dollars , they do it online; 3. a nice Christmas ornament so when they place it on their tree, they will always remember you. 4. Candles you can buy a cheap one and decorate the outside glass with ribbons, like a scrapbook idea but on a candle jar; 5. a mini scrapbook of photos , decorated with ribbons, buttons , get a cheap one in dollar store and dress it up; you can make copies of photos for about 15 cents each and cut up with cut out like collage , put yourself into the creation. You can buy remnants ; clearance items etc to use to save money. 6. Fun fur scarfs , they are in and don't take too much time to make them for less than 10 dollars; 7. Sometimes , I buy a discounted nice glass plate and make cookies (some stores like pottery barn etc ,they sell odd plates including Lenox cheap for one plate 4.00 etc, tie with clear cellophane , ribbon, they get to keep the dish and it is a nice presentation; Merry Christmas

Take some
wire
buttons
ribbon
Thread the buttons onto the wire( about 15 depending on how big you want it. Small is best for tree ornament) bring both ends of wire together and twist. Use the ribbon to tie a bow around the wire knot and loop some to hang with. Makes a cute wreath to hang on their tree.

homemade christmas cookies. If you know how to knit or crochet, make them some pot holders. If you know how to cross stitch, make them some christmas ornaments.
