also what is the Jewish population of London? How does it compare to France? Is it true that Strasburg is the 3rd largest Jewish city in the world after New York and Jerusalem?

thewiseone is correct there are about 250000 rather strange when you think that London got so many very early on. I can only think that over the centuries a lot of them just blended in. I know several that are not practising Jews and so nobody even realises that they are. I often wonder if they are included in this figure.
To make a comparison the UK gained 350000 South Africans over the past few years however a lot of these are people or their children that went out under contract in the 60's and stayed and have now returned.

For a comparison ...
there are about 10 times more Moslems in the UK than Jews.

As far as I am aware there are around 250,000 jews in Britain, which equates to one half of one per cent of the population. There are so few of us now in this country I can't understand why there is so much anti-semitism nowadays. Happy Shabbat and Chanukah!

One of the reasons there are relatively few Jews in England is that they were banned from living in England between 1269 and 1655.
