where to start?
Of course USA is not all about peace, eventhough it does claim to be a "peaceful nation" ( how many times did I hear Georgie say that!). They just like to "react" with force, to defend themselves. Now, what qualifies as "self-defense"? there you have a good point.
Does invading a country ( Iraq) because they cause a potential threat ( WMDs) qualify for self-defense?
It used to not be good enough. But Bush has changed the rules.
That can be debated. Now, if the US has to invade every nation that pursues WMDs... good luck.
Plus, if you realize that there were no WMDs, that the intelligence was fabricated for political reasons, and that Bush went in against the will of the rest of the world... that's a lot of reasons to find this war unacceptable.
About Israel.... there is obviously a big biais in American society in favour of Israel. It is a fact that American policy is not balanced, and that causes a lot of hatred which in turn, fuels terrorism. Until Americans understand that they need to be more fair in their approach of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Arabs will have reasons to hate them more and more every day.
History of the US has been filled with wars. They value peace but they go to war whenever they feel like their way of life is threatened.
the problem is that recently, they have failed to see that they were partly responsible for a lot of the hatred coming their way. their only response has been to blame others, never questioning themselves in any way. By saying this, I am not saying that the USA is the only one to blame and that terrorists are clean (that's a classic stupid argument from those who don't like to question themselves). But it is obvious that this attitude will continue to fuel the cycle of hatred and terrorism.

USA is not all about peace. In every regime we see blunders in foreign policy, and execution outdoing the policy. In spite of many good policies one or two wrong steps ruin its reputation and make people hate Americans. Just to quote a few worst examples from many. The blatantly one-sided policy to help Israel, pursued in relation to Palestine is probably turned most of the Muslim world against America. To make it even worse Bush went in to Iraq,to perpetuate an unjust war, against the wishes of most of the Democratic world. 1.3 billion Muslims all over the world simply hate all that is American. It is sad. It was not so bad earlier. We only hope that there is a regime change in 2008 and the new leaders more than make up for all the hurt caused. The lives lost can never be restored. However massive program of economic assistance to educate Muslim youth, who are falling prey to wily clerics who are pushing them to suicidal missions, besides assistance to alleviate poverty and ill-health will go a long way to heal the massive wounds. which will indeed take a long time to heal. Only time will tell what further misfortune holds for this world of today, truly in great turmoil and unrest.

The USA is not all about Peace. It is about protecting the country and its people. Just like every other country in the World including yours. If you have no clue what happens in a war you need to read and study first.
1. Japan started the War and they killed millions of civilians in China and Korea before we even entered the war. They bombed Pearl Harbor and killed thousands of people when we had not fired a shot or even declared war yet.
2. Abu Grabe and Gitmo no one is killed there and the worst torture done their was the stupid soldiers making them stand on their heads naked. Compare that with Al-Qaida cutting off people heads slowly on TV
3. Israel has a right to exist. Quit shooting rockets into their cities I be they stop too. Of course now that Hamas is shooting at the Egyptians and FATA they will too busy to worry about Israel
4. As for Iraq the Muslims there are killing ten times as many people as American soldiers! Are you bitching at them?
5. Afghanistan 911 three thousand of our people dead. We were not in Iraq, or Afghanistan then. You don't want your countries torn apart and your people killed LEAVE US ALONE. You kill our people we will retaliate. And if another 911 happens there will be even worse retaliation. As for Governments like yours that starve their own people, imprison them if they speak against them, and abuse women I really don't care what they think

The USA is not about peace. The USA is about self preservation at all costs. While I may not agree with this, I still benefit from it and am truly thankful I was born here and not a country on the USA's bad side.

its becuase of the cold war. We spent so much time during the cold war trying to control the world and keep communism in check. Now that we don't have any one to keep in check so we must fight people for the hell of it. As far as the atomic bomb, it was the only way to save the world from a long war with japan that might still be going on today, because we were NEVER going to invade the japanese mainland.only on that do i disagree with you.

Before you can answer, or receive an answer, for this question you must first put aside the "blame America first" mentality.
#1. Japan attacked US. We did not instigate the war, they brought it to our soil and we responded. In Korea, we brought aid and military assistance to the democratic South Koreans who were invaded by the Communistic North Koreans aided by Russia and China. The invasion was an attempt to unite the Korean pennisula under a communist regime that served as a puppet to Joseph Stalin. In both regards, the future implications of those wars falls at the feet of those who instigated the wars - Japan & North Korea. One lasting effect that still stands today is the fact that the South Koreans live in freedom thanks to the United States. If it wasn't for us, those South Koreans would be under the oppression of a communist government.
#2. As for the prisons, the United States treats its prisons much more humanely than any other country in this world. Place our soldiers in an Iran, or a Sadaam controlled Irag prison and see how they are treated. The so called torture may have been humiliating to the prisoners (who were terrorist by the way) but at least they walked out with both arms, legs, all appendages, and their heads. By the way, Abu Graib is now controlled by the Iraq government and the prisoners are begging for America to regain controll - the new iraq government apparently is not as tolerant of evil as we are.
#3. Israel is our alley, and do not believe for a moment that we are not receiving anything in return. Israel has one of the most lethal forces in the world. Their technology rivals ours in many ways, just check out their defense website. They are a premier fighting force with or without the USA. Plus, it is Israel who is the constant receipient of PALESTINIAN agression. They are a deffensive force. If Palestine is tired of getting beat be superior weaponry, then all they need to do is stop attacking.
#4. 9/11 was our invitation to "put our nose" in Islamic extremism, which by extention includes Sadaam Hussein - as he is an Islamic extremist. We didn't make the case of how bad he was, he did that himself. We should have been in there earlier, but the democrate government of the 90's didn't have the stomach to do it. We are not killing hundreds by the way, its THOUSANDS. I think the last count was over 5,000 insurgents dead or captured in the months of October, Novemeber and first week of December - hmm. that's more than our total loss over the past 3 years (why do people think we are losing again?).
If we entered into Iraq for the oil, then why are our prices so high? Why aren't we getting the oil? That is a lame excuse people give because of the fact that Iraq has oil. If we invaded Iowa, liberals would claim it was for the corn!
#5. Killing women and children? Where are your facts? How come you automatically consider MEN to be guilty, since you didn't include them in your rant? Since when did the fact that women are women, and unfortunately children are children, automatically mean they are innocent? We live in a world where 14 year olds, and younger, are taught to blow themselves up just to kill an American. Woman pose pregnant to get assistance and then blow themselves up with bombs that were supposed to be their "baby." Where is the innocence in that?
As for the argument that it was for Heroin, why are you complaining - it is clear you must be benefitting.
No one likes war, unfortunately the sad fact is it is occassionaly necessary since evil doesn't negotiate. If someone attacked my family, I wouldn't sit passively by and try to "understand" their motives for hurting my son, daughter, and wife. There would be conflict in order to protect the ones I love.
Unfortunately the curse of human sin makes men evil, and that evil MUST be confronted or else it will reign supreme. the irony of it is, conflict and war is usually the only way to stop the evil from gaining control. Without World War II Hitler would have ran the world.
it sounds like an oxymoron, "War brings peace" but it is true. Without war, evil & opression will prevail. War, unfortunatly, has been the main avenue for democracy and freedom. You have to fight to be free - The Revolution, WW1, WW2, Korean War, 6 day war, etc. are examples of that truth.

I didn't bother to read your #1 to #5. You have a false premise. The USA is not all about peace. We never claimed we were. If you have to pick one word, we are all about freedom, or perhaps liberty. Have you ever heard "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance?" As long as there are those who wish to take freedom from others, peace does not exist.
