1. Who comes up with the characters names and professions.
The scriptwriter, perhaps collaborating with the producer and director.

2. How do babies know when to laugh and cry are they looking at
someone.
Someone off-camera is coaxing them to react in a certain way.

3. Eating sceen obviously its scripted but are they eating proper hot cooked food.
Nope. They're usually eating crap that's been sitting there getting cold for the last ten takes.

4 When you see photos in the house who are the people.
Sometimes actors, sometimes stock photos from the prop department (in which case they're hired models).

5 When you see an actor playing a doctor are they using the correct termonolgy or is it made up.
Often they hire an expert to advise them on technical aspects like that.

6 When you see extras in the backround what are they talking about or are they miming.
Depends. The director will advise them on the general gist of what they should be doing, but in theory they could get away with saying anything.

1. Mainly the writer. Sometimes the producer and/or director add something.
2. There are quite a lot of takes when babies are involved. Most of the time the baby isn't actually seen, they just dub in the needed vocals. When babies are seen, they were shot at an earlier or later time, then edited in.
3. Some of the time. Certain foods spoil, so they are substituted with things that look like them.
4. They could be photos of family members of the cast and/or the behind-the-scenes people. As well as pictures from talent agencies of aspiring actors.
5. A good writer would brush up on his/her homework. Speak with the medical profession. That goes for law and any other situation.
6. Usually talking in hushed tones.

Not sure about the rest, but for these two:

2. How do babies know when to laugh and cry are they looking at
someone.
Yes, they're looking at someone. You do something like peek-a-boo to make them laugh, and scare them in some way to make them cry, and just stay out of the camera's way.

6 When you see extras in the backround what are they talking about or are they miming.
Usually the extras talk about whatever they want to.

1) the writers- eg "Indiana Jones","Short round" and "Willie" in "Temple of Doom"(The Lead,The Asian kid,and Female lead,respectively..)were the names of dogs belonging to the writers!
2)The babies are of course too Young to Act..A parent or Guardian is there to manipulate their responses..the rest is down to editing of the sound and picture to make it appear spontaneous..
3) I've read articles stating some actors got real beer in drinking scenes..many takes didn't help..Listening to Joss whedon's commentary on the "Firefly" DVD's,Actor Nathan Fillian had many takes where he was eating a piece of tomato with chopsticks..
4) the photos, if not actual shots of the cast in character, are often a chance for the crew to have a gag, putting in friends and family, giving trivia fans something to look out for..Eg.in "The Commitments" the wannabe band is in a Video shop run by a friend to see a performance by James Brown...In the background is a display of videos for a promotional "Alan Parker Movie Season"-Alan Parker directed the Movie!
5) It's common for Actors to get into character by being around the professionals doing the Jobs they're playing..The ER cast was rated as being medically realistic, for example..
Renee Zellweger apparently worked incognito in an English publishing company for a month to prepare herself for "Bridget Jones'Diary"
6) If they're off camera, and not miked up,without speaking parts,it would be probably just be normal conversation..

1) Writers
2) They film all they can and sometimes they get the shots they need.
3) Well, as long as it's edible, it doesn't matter
4) Cast, crew or purchased from an "images" agency
5) These days, they have medical consultants to get as close as possible.
6) Depends on the type of shot and the sensitivity of the equipment.
