Well, would she need one if she's at home while you're motoring all over the countryside?

If she likes bikes, then yah that's a great gift and it would be smart to give her the helmet, you do value her safety right? But what would be cute is if you give her the helmet first, and then she'll have to wonder if you bought her a bike.
Another thing, never give a women cash, seems cheap no matter what the amount, buy something pretty or something she likes...

You need to check the helmet laws in your state. Most states require you to wear a helmet. I think the 5 grand would have been a better gift for her. It sounds as though your selfish self, won over again .

Sounds like you missed the spirit of christmas. I think you should donate that bike and a helmet to charity. Give your wife a nice card stating what you did.

Generous thought, but better to buy yourself a crash helmet if she gets wind of your prior intentions. Good luck.

I'd buy yourself a crash helmet instead, you're going to need it when she finds out what she could have had instead!

i think that a crash helmet should be good.
tell her that you got because you want her safe when riding.
the bike is thought about more, than money and shows that you think about your wife.

Oh God. Your not by any chance MY husband are you? This seriously sounds like you Simon.
What did I get last year? Oh yes. a Dewalt Drill. What fun I have had watching you start to put up shelves, get bored and move onto the next thing.
