Many Anglos are totally unaware of the diversity of Hispanic peoples. Since certain parts of the US have a Hispanic population that is primarily from one country or another, Anglos simply jump to the conclusion that you're from that place. Moreover, most Anglos do not realize that many Hispanics have a strong sense of national pride regarding their nation of origin. Hispanics are not the only group that experiences this, though. After 9/11, many non-Arab immigrants experienced hostility because the locals assumed they were Arab. Some children of West Indian or African immigrants resent being lumped together with American blacks. To this day, many Anglos automatically assume an Asian person is Japanese. Try to remember that people are not necessarily trying to be insulting.

Personally I don't see it being worse. I have Columbian, Bolivian, Mexican and Puerto Rican friends as well as white, black and Japanese. They're just my friends. I know they have their own individual cultures just like I have my own, but race is an afterthought for me. When I hear someone say anything, I stop them and correct them. I guess I'm probably this way because I deal with racisim due to my race. I would never be that way to anyone. And I never make assumptions like that.

Racism is what you make of it. certain groups of people dumb down their whole nationalities they show people the bad side instead of what it good. racism is also incredibly bad towards blacks. i will say that i am a German and very proud of it. i am a skinhead but i do not support racism without cause. tolerance is something we all need to learn more about. people are not distinctly classified by their race, as i said i have a skinhead but I'm not a Nazi in any way.
i believe people make themselves to be a certain way. they are representatives of their race and they should behave as such. basically don't be a bad person and you wont be classified as something you are not. simple as that.

I don't know why people confuse your nationality and it really stinks that that happens, but I have another question. When did they send the memo that racism was worse on any one particular group? It all sucks bootyhole.

because whatever people see the majority of they tend to classify all in one group. They narrow their minds down to one specific thing and that is all they care to see, right or not that's just how some people are

Latinos? Are they even a race?

Let's see... we got whites, blacks, women, gays, and lesbians, and occasionally handicapped people from China, but I never heard of no Latinos. Oh yeah and them sand monkeys too.

And what about those Californians? Aren't they a seperate race? If I confused them with Texans, why I'd be a racist!

Besides, everyone knows the only people who are racist are white! Let's all team up and blame whitey! KILL WHITEY!
