While there's no legislation on the books right now, there will be.
For the people like "stephanie" who believe anti-gun legislation is a "non-issue", I suggest they visit these 2 websites: www.nranews.com, and www.nraila.org.
There, you can look up the intentions of groups like: Americans for Gun Safety; Handgun Control, Inc. (now named The Brady Campaign); Stop Handgun Violence; DCS; Coalition to Stop Violence; Educational Fund to End Handgun Violence; Crime Gun Solutions.
These political entities walk hand-in-glove with Nancy Pelosi, Hilary Clinton, Charles Schumer, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Josh Horwitz, John Kerry, Al Gore, et al.
Use the sites' search windows to look up these groups and people to know & realize that all they're doing is biding their time until they feel it's right to raise the issue again.
For anyone who believes it's a non-issue, I'd like to see an apology from all those who keep saying this.
It's an issue just waiting for the right time for them, that's all.
p.s. in nranews.com, look up the September & November issues of "America's Freedom 1st".

This looks a lot like a rant to me but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. The vast majority of gun owners are for the most part responsible with their weapons and never harm anyone. Look at it from this perspective, out of all of the people in this country that we allow to own a car, how many of them drive drunk, disturbed individuals that use their vehicle as a weapon, excessively distracted(Such as Tweeting or whatever my generation does), or just chooses to ignore the rules of the road and goes 15+ over the speed limit and passes over solid yellow lines when they can't speed behind someone. The ratio for horrible drivers is most likely much higher. In all fairness this is for the reason that when you apply for an FOID, you are expressing an interest in being a gun owner and more than likely you will try to do a bit of research into what exactly you want, while many people need to get a license for transportation. Either way, a car going 40mph is more lethal than a .223 caliber round. Not all people are this way, but the majority of gun owners understand and respect the responsibility behind keeping a firearm.

Yes, the strategy is to allow frivolous lawsuits against gun shops and manufacturers and force them out of business or drive prices so high, gun owners won't be able to protect themselves.
Laws have even allowed the criminal to sue the victim.
The point is, there need not be a specific law when there is a multi-front attack on our basic rights.

Gun control. That is as specific as possible. Responsible gun owners, buy the very meaning of the words, don't need to to regulated. Criminals on the other hand, don't obey the regulations. Therefore any gun control laws serve to guarantee criminals are better armed that their victims.
Who supports such laws is irrelevant.
BTW, you may be asking for academic reasons, but this is most definitely NOT an academic question.

I really don't think its a dem or rep issue, but in my opinion gun registration to begin with is in violation of the 2nd ammendment if one reasearches the author's view of such things (thomas Jefferson) as back then no one envisioned registaring weapons, a well armed public, lowers crime and makes the government think twoce about taking liberities away.

The goal is to totally disarm the people .
Criminals will always find a way to getfirearms , they'll smuggle them in with the drugs .
In the states where concealed carry laws have pasted , crime has gone down .

No, this is yet another non issue, that sheep buy into. No one is trying to take anyones guns away. It is your Constitutionally protected right to bear arms. Unlike President Bush, most Democrats still believe in that wonderful document our country was founded on.

You can bet that it's on the horizon with those scumbags slithering into power. If Hillary is elected, she will come after them for certain, as well as trying to suspend the rest of the Bill of Rights, including Freedom of Speech.
Same with that other disgusting liberal, Osama Obama, who also stands for everything sick and rotten.
