New house, moved in in March. Faulty limestone flooring. Contractor agreed to remedy back in May. Wrote to him in September telling him to get his finger out or else. He visited in November and promised action. Today last straw as he was supposed to start the work but said it would now be next week. Told him I didn't want him on my premises and would be consulting my solicitor as to my rights. this is very long story cut short of course, many phone calls in between! I am so angry, can I have some hugs and sympathy please? Also, do you think I've been patient enough?!

Yes, you have been patient enough. Time to see a solicitor, tell them the story in full, and find out your specific rights in this case.

I don't know where you are but if you want to get it done you will have to have a little more patience. You will have to let him make more promises and fall through while you are talking to a solicitor. If you tell him to take a hike he could just say that you wouldn't let him do the work. Pain in the back side but ancient Chinese wise men once said "cover your own *** first".

yes you have been patient TK is this a national builder or a local small builder whichever they are trying to stall you If a national builder report to NHBC or ins co who were inspecting as it was being constructed if a small builder BA I might just add you rather shot yourself in the foot by barring him from your house as he will use this against you and will add more time to you getting the job done

Go to your local Trading Standards in your town and tell them about it, also go to your local newspapers and tell them too. It happened to me once with decorating my home, I was conned big time, but I did go to the Trading Standards who wrote to him to come and put my work properly.
