goooood question! What did it take for our own civil war to end (Because this is a civil war now). For all the different waring factions take big enough loses for them to wonder why they can't get along in the first place. When they look back and see that things could be better than they were and wonder if it is really worth it.

It will take a long time. For those who blame Bush, he's only a small part of the problem, not the whole problem. The government over there is still shakey at best. Pulling the US troops out suddenly will only agrivate the situation. A slow withdraw is in order because of the upheavel still going on. We are an impatient nation, and we need to learn that sometimes, we can't always get things fast. This is going on a long time, I know, but there are still innocent civilians overseas being killed, and not because we're over there but because of the state of their government.

If US can help, we should. But to just abandon them because we think Bush is wrong and pull our troops out makes us no better then murders for we will be leaving them to a horrible fate. Help, yes, but for now, the troops need to stay put until we can peacefully withdraw.

The war is over.. or hasn't anyone noticed? In every war there is always disgruntled losers who take pot shots at those who won and blow things up if they can. The government has been formed but the country is totally unstable and until their police force and army can get a grip our guys are there.
Geesch! I love the media they are sooo patriotic..

The war will never stop. we had good intentions going into Afghanistan but now we are there and in Iraq. we have no real idea what we are doing and we lose troops every single day over in The middle east. we are about to reach our 3,000th soldier that died in war. i believe we should have special forces in Iraq and Afghanistan but not 135,000

Bush decided to start it, for reasons that he has not trustfully disclosed. When the reasons are no longer in any ones best interest, the war will end.
