I'm 6'5, 33 (waist) x35/36 (length), with an athletic, runner-type body. I'm totally not jeans savvy, so what would be best for me style-wise (low-rise, bootcut, straight leg) in terms of versatility (college, clubs, etc.)? And what's hot nowadays with the whole destroyed and whiskers things? Thanks for your help!

You want jeans that sit right below the waist, straight leg, and lighter colors. Destroyed and weathered jeans aren't going to be as flexible as you want, they are a very casual look. Because of your build, you can get away with brushed and fading on the legs to draw the eye down, and add some texture to legs that might seem too slim. You don't want anything too baggy, which will make you look skinnier in comparison. You also don't want anything too tight, which not only looks feminine, also will make you look taller and skinnier. A good relaxed fit is the most flattering (and comfortable) style for your body.

Low-Rise? Only if your gay and in the women's department. If not then just go straight leg for the all out MAN style. Levi's has a red or orange tag on the pocket and that's an indicator of a short or long length. With an odd ball 35" you'll want a 36 Orange tag (short) or 34 red. (long) Don't know about other brands you'll just have to try them on. NO LENGTH is the same even if indicated the same, you see Mexicans making them can't read a ruler to well or just don't care. That's not being hateful just a fact of life. So try on every pair you like.

Lands End makes custom length jeans and pants. However, if you are looking for designer jeans that often come in lengths up to 38 inches, try Neiman Marcus Last Call, Off Fifth Saks Outlet, Nordstrom's Rack. You can often find fairly inexpensive longer length designer jeans for a fraction of retail.
