I would say that a fast computer, with high RAM and ROM, is a good one. Also those with more than one core in it, like the new Intel Duel-Core.

...because it can perform the task at hand.
I have a desktop calculator - all it is supposed to do is simple maths, and it does that perfectly. It is a great computer _for_that_purpose_ - but if I tried to play World of Warcraft on it my opinion would quickly change...

So basically the quality of any tool (remember, a computer is a tool) can only be guaged on how well it performs the task it was designed to perform. Things like "big hard drive" and "fast processor" are only important if they are relevant to the task at hand - otherwise they are just nice bonuses, but not necessary.

a good computer does the bare minimum for what you want it to do...and a very good computer can do quite a bit more than you actually need it to ..... if let's say you want to play a game with a processor requirement of 1.2, you should have a better processor of probably 1.8 .... atleast that is what i would say.....

Machines are usually judged by their processor speed, amount of memory and graphics capabilities. Generally speaking the faster the processor and the more memory you have for RAM and video makes for better performance. That's a very, very bare-bones answer, though. There are many more factors to truly consider.
