If you have an idea for a movie (i mean an actual new movie, not some daft idea or existing movie re-hash) who do you go to to discuss it / is there anybody to talk to about these things?

I do a bit of writing but i write in the movie style (script) rather than a novel style, and therefore find it hard to get published.

The concepts / storylines are good (recognised as such by the publishers) but are in the wrong format for a book, yet ideal for a movie.

Does anybody out there know of a place that accepts new scripts; or better still a place where the concept could be discussed with 'an actual person'??

Unless you have an "in" in Hollywood, you'll have to write the script since you don't have any previous professional experience.

You can go the route of getting an agent, but I think that's a lot of work with little certainity of success. A timewaster.

I'd write up the script and submit it to The Austin Film Festival, the ABC/Disney Fellowship, and the Nicholls Fellowship. Then I'd contact producers who've done films that I admire, whom I think would appreciate my concept. Don't just send it to everyone. Focus.

How about going to a TV channel and discussing your ideas then see if they will serialise it as a TV drama or something? Then once you've established yourself as a writer of scripts you could try and find movie contacts through the TV people you meet.

I can only wish you good luck.

Hollywood ran out of ideas many decades ago. All they can do now is to regurgitate their old mooveez or other country's old films and then screw them up.
