I did after 16 hours of labor when they decided it was time for a c-section.

I was afraid that it was going to hurt, but I was already in a little bit of pain from the contractions that I didn't really feel it at all. I would definately recommend the epidural, although some people have a reaction to it (i.e. get sick to their stomach).

No, I didn't get it with both my children. I wasn't allowed to because of low platelet levels.. I would have definitely had the epidural given the choice. I was a little in control of the pain with my first, but my second was extremely painful. Would you get your tooth pulled out without anaesthetic. Take the epidural if you need it. It's there for you.

I have had 6 children and I did have an epidural with my second child and lived to regret it. IT's not worth it. We are big girls and if generations before us could handle it then so can we. Why put your baby at risk or yourself at risk for complications? It wears off at the end when you feel the most pain anyway, but they don't tell you that little tidbit. Also too, they will tell you there is no connection but that one child I delivered, he is the only one I have with learning problems. Connection? Maybe not, but it sure seems like a strange coincidence.

I did every time (I have 4 kids) and with each one, it feels like it wore off at the end. Looking back, I dont' think it did. I think the nurses lie about pressure and pain, i.e. you'll just feel pressure once the epi is in. When you are pushing an 8 lb baby out of you, the pressure is going to hurt, epi or no. I can't imagine how it would have felt if I didn't have one!

No they didnt have them way back when...and i mean as soon as you can start to really feel it ...its almost over...so why not just wait it out? theres nothing wrong with it....I was more proud i didnt get an epidural lol and i was just 16 then so if i can do it anyone can do it..i dont even know why the let you use it unless your getting a csection!

yes. Mine was on a drip so lasted throughout, however I had lower back and pelvic pain when I got to 10cm, so even though they gave me a booster of pain meds, I was in quite a bit of pain for the 3 hours it took me to push that big head out. :D

an epidural is somthing that paralizes you from I think waist down. Its way too risky even though doctors say its safe, I could never imagine doing that. But thats just me.

No way. It was suggested by the midwife but I didn't fancy the idea of somebody sticking a needle in my spine.
