The writings of Nostradamus can be interpretted by people in many different ways. Most of his "predictions" were only noted after the event happened. For all we know, the "new king" could be someone we are not expecting. It could be the "king of rock and roll" who brings peace when a new Elvis springs forth.
Will the "War on Terror" last 27 years? We will have to wait it out. Will there be a new king who brings peace? Again, we have to wait.
According to Nostradamus, the twentieth century was to bring us three world wars. Though there were only two World Wars, many consider the "War on Terror" to have started in the 1990s, thus making it the third war mentioned.
People can find justification in anything, and ignore anything that refutes it. In your query you end with, "...or am i being silly." If you interpret something one way, and you have an opinion, you are entitled to it, and not a single person should make you feel that your idea is unworthy of consideration. Unless someone has proof that you your interpretation is false, then you would be silly to think that your ideas don't count.
Stick to your convictions and find facts that support your idea. Be one of the people who researches and formulates opinions based on facts, not someone who bases ideas on hearsay and circumstantial evidenc.

He did not say "war on terror'. He said there would be a reign of terror that would last for 27 years and that it would begin somewhere around 1999. The fallacy of most people who read his quatrains is that they expect an exact date and time. He spoke in generalizations because the predictions were based on the seasons and cycles of time - which tend to repeat themselves in the big picture. His methods for predicting the events of the future were based on what has been termed "comparative horoscopy". He may not hit the nail on the head every time, but many of his "forecasts" have strong evidence of having come to pass. A good modern day use of comparative horoscopy, which may help you understand what it was that he was doing, would be for you to look at the cycles of racism in America. Presently (July 2016) there has been a rash of police shootings, riots, and violence provoked by racism. This has been boiling up for the last two years or so. Not unlike 1992 (25 years ago) with Rodney King, or 1968 (25 years earlier), or 1943 Detroit riots and related lynchings (25 years before that), etc. These are examples of short term "comparative horoscopy". If you consider the planetary alignments, sun cycles, social norms (which also cycle with every generation), political cycles, etc. You will see that the same patterns repeat themselves. Nostrodomus was gifted in that he could look behind, beyond, and before his time and apply this principle on a larger scale. So, no, he was not always right, but there is something to be said about his methods as evidenced by the short term example I gave above. You cannot pinpoint the start of the reign of terror that he predicted, but it is undeniable that it has reached a global scale and the whole world is now in a state of chaos as he "forecasted" not "predicted". Modern day weathermen do the same thing. Think about it.

Funny, how Nostradamus' predictions always sem to surface after the fact. Like any other con artist or fortune teller he made hundreds of predictions in hopes that a few will come true or remotely resemble an event.
He predicted that something bad would enter Europe via the river
Hitner and it was interpreted as if he predicted Hitler and his terror.
I can not beleive how many gullible people there are in this world. Maybe its juts fear.
Nostradamus could'nt predict the outcome of the Dallas Cowboys versus a pee-wee league team.

Given the situation at the Munich Olympic Games in 1968 the war should have ended in 1995. Maybe Nostradamus needed a better calendar?

Nostradamus said many things that didn't make any sense, back then there was not a war on terror like it is today, throughout history there are many who have different opinions, all of them proved to be wrong, no one knows how long this war is going to last, three, twenty seven, fifty years, who knows..☺

Do you even know when the war on terror began. The Isreali's have been fighting it for over 30 years already. We didn't start the war on terror, we just joined it.

I don't put any faith in what Nostradamus says. Many of his predictions have NOT come true. However, he is very interesting.
