Martin Luther King. He was a remarkable man. As an American, he'd be listed first and foremost. Unfortunately, he wasn't an elected official. Won the Nobel Peace Prize for non-violent stance against police brutality, billy clubs, dogs, hangings, KKK, etc. for civil rights in 1964.
Others: Mahatma Gandhi (He may have been a racist in his early years, but he changed his entire way of life and adopted a non-violent movement that King also adopted) , Lincoln (he even visited wounded Confederate soldiers in their death beds), Carter (brought Egypt/Israel together in peace for the first time in 4000 yrs), Mandela (imprisoned for 26 yrs for his color, but didn't take revenge on whites. Instead became president of his country), Anwar Sadat (made peace with Israel and paid the price with his life--Bin Laden's #2 man was responsible for killing him)
King Hussein wasn't a peacemaker. He was a coward. He schmoozed up to Israel and the US only after he got tired of getting his country bombed by Israel and after he kicked out the PLO from Jordan. He coddled up to Saddam in 1991, but again changed sides. He only settled down after he knew he was at the mercy of Israel, the US, and Iraq.

FRAGINAL-PINOY AKO - Do some research on Gandhi and see how racist he was when he lived in south Africa. He's no peace maker. See if you can find the racist slur that he used to refer to black people.
