But then when i rightclick on USB stick in My Computer and go to options, it is still showing the amount of Used space and free space as it was before it gone mad! Any ideas?

I would suggest you borrow a friends computer and see if they appear on his/hers. If not the USB stick is broken. If it works on another computer just save the files to his/her computer and transfer them by CD-Rob or another USB stick.

Alternativly try another USB port.

Your stick may have lost is file allocation table;

DO NOT FORMAT (as others have suggested)

Try the following

1, Insert the stick into the port
2, go to "My Computer"
3, right click on the drive icon for the stick
4, select "Properties"
5, then "Tools"
6, then "Error Checking"..Check Now
7, Tick both options and run

It may not work, but its the first thing to try

good luck

You could try the evaluation version of Photorescue to recover your files.

You need to register (and pay) if you are trying to get photographs off portable media such as memory cards or USB sticks but for regular files (word documents, etc) I've found that it isn't restricted that way.

I registered my version and I was able to retrieve photos from a card that had a corrupt directory and also from another card that had been formatted. A very useful piece of kit.

They might just be set as hidden. Go to Tools>Folder Options>View>Show Hidden Files And Folders>OK

Does the computer acknowledge the USB stick?

Try to reformat your USB Stick.
Or... Reformat your computer
Or... Fix your USB Controller
Or... Consult your USB Manuals on how to resolve problems.

Try the pen disk on another computer

If that is not working, try and get your data off of it (i.e. copy Drive X: to C:\PD\)

Could be WIndows!
