im not sure, but it sound like it should have been washed off straight away. they always say to do a colour test before you colour your hair, to make sure your not allergic to the ingredients. i don't know if this is done at the salon, but you can get home kits that has it, done it myself. as for charging you, i don't think they should have done, i would definately go to your doctor and seek advice, and if you wanted to take the matter further i would get a witness to see your scalp eg go to another hairdresser with a friend and get them to take a look, and see legal advice from the 'citizens advice bureau'. should type it in on the web.
write down when/where you went, and who did your hair etc
hope this is of some help, good luck!!

First of all, was this your first time getting your hair coloured? And if so, did you tell your hairdresser? And if you did, did she perform a test to make sure this wouldn't be a problem? If you have had your hair coloured in the past without any problems, then this could have been the product the salon was using. You said your scalp was red and felt sore. Is this an irritation or burning of the skin on your scalp? If just an irritation, I would take note of what product they used and don't use it again. But if your scalp was actually burned, then I would go back and tell them in writing and request a full refund or you will report them and the product. I would also go to your doctor to make sure your scalp is ok if burned. You don't want any infections. And let them know you are seeking medical treatment. This should produce a full refund.

Not only should you have not been charged but you have a case against the hairdresser for negligence and the damage and pain you suffered. Also as you brought the problem to their notice but they insisted that all was well, and you suffered a further 5 minutes pain, there could be a case for assault.
See a doctor or an independent specialist,(another hairdresser) and get a verdict from them.If possible get a written statement of their opinions as experts. Then confront your hairdresser and ask for what you feel would be right for compensation. If they will not play then threaten them with a solicitor and point out that they were negligent and that a successful case against them will result in them paying costs as well as compensation. Do not go there again. Have a happy Christmas.

hi i am a hairdresser and sometimes colour companies change the ingredients in there colour or in the peroxide used with out a warning notice so if you have had this colour before by the same hairdresser it is very likely that this is why she didn't do a skin test and that you had a reaction however if you told her it was burning she should have washed it off immediately go back to the salon asap and tell them your scalp is still sore ask them to check the ingredients with an older box of colour or peroxide then ask them if they will give you a free course of conditioning treatments to soothe your scalp if this fails tell them you will seek advice from the citizens advice bureau hope this helps and try rinsing your scalp in cool water and comb it gently so as not to aggravate it more

If it is just a bit irritated you might call them and insist that you be reimbursed for the cost of the coloring and for any ointments you need, and also for the day you had to take off of work because of this. If they refuse, then go to plan B: Document your scalp condition now with photos and a detailed description of the symptons. better yet, go to a doctor to have it documented, (the hairdresser will eventually have to foot that bill). Present this to the hairdresser and tell them you are furious, humiliated and emotionally distraught, but you are also willing to settle out of court.

What?! That's not right, man. You know, you could sue them for that. >:( The salon is clearly unprofessional and low class. . . I swear you shouldn't even have been charged. Go to the local health center and complain to them about it.

You could have gotten out of being charged if you had been more eloquent about voicing your complaint.
