Like the other guy said, you probably have some old firefox.exe process hung on your system.
Do a control-alt-delete and view the processes running in the task manager.
Kill any firefox.exe processes
Run Firefox in "Safe mode" from the Start menu and make sure it works.
If it does, exit Firefox and try running in regular mode. If that fails, you have a corrupt profile or extension conflict. You'll need to go back into safe mode and disable all your extensions and enable them one by one (restarting between each one) to see which one is causing the problem.
If you can't start in safe mode, your Firefox installation is likely corrupt, or your computer has serious problems. Try removing and reinstalling Firefox and creating a new profile using "firefox.exe -profilemanager" and copying your old bookmarks over to your new profile.

1. Uninstall Firefox from the control panel.
2. Navigate to C:/program files.
3. If there is a "mozilla firefox" folder still there delete it.
4. Restart your machine.
5. Install Firefox again.
P.S. Firefox dominates IE =P

hi, (ANS) Please be VERY careful in destiny with any Microsoft updates, why? by using fact no longer all provider packs or updates are needed. My advise is barely acquire gadget severe & working gadget severe updates something you are able to forget approximately they are frequently ineffective and in simple terms take in disk area. No.a million the updates you latterly downloaded for Vista that have tousled your gadget. Did you acquire them from the surely Microsoft web site? or the place those automatic updates? do you recognize or remember precisely what it became which you downloaded? became it between the hot provider packs for vista? No.2 once you certainly put in the updates do you remember making a backup & restoration element, so the provider %. would be un-put in (rolled back). you would be able to desire to un-deploy the final updates you downloaded so a strategies as i will tell, those updates have for some reason disillusioned your gadget & probable brought about gadget instability. No.3 of direction you need to objective uninstalling FireFox yet i think of Explorer 7 is outfitted into Vista if my memory serves me wisely. No.4 in case you are able to no longer un deploy those updates that does go away you in a touch no longer ordinary concern. commonly i could have reported which you carry out an working gadget refresh yet that wont restoration this project regrettably. If the worst includes the worst your terrific option could be to wipe the completed gadget & rebuild it from scratch (minus the darn updates of direction). this could be a large activity and could contain reformatting the no longer ordinary disk & re-installation Vista as though from new, & could require the product key & product activation yet back regrettably. fending off the provider packs & updates. Thats surely your terrific option in my opinion in case you desire to have a completely suited working gadget with Vista. Sorry! its not extra useful information yet thats my trouble-free opinion. type Regards Ivan pc veteran, MCSE experienced, ex IT expert, gadget builder.
