I'm sorry for your loss, I know its hard, I've had 5 miscarriages, I've only had one D&C though because the first miscarriage was a 'missed miscariage' (meaning I didnt bleed or anything the remains of the placenta were still there so i had to have a D&C. If your bleeding you shouldnt need one at all, you're body will evacuate everything, but a scan will show that up. With the other miscarriages I bled for about 9 days, not much worse than a period.

The test she is talking about is a measure of hormones, if you still have a high amount of hormones its because your body is still retaining parts and thinks it is still pregnant and a D&C is needed. I spoke with my friend who is a ob. nurse, she mentioned that the bleeding should slowly taper off and physical activity will make it last long and be stronger. Take it easy, this isn't an easy time for you I'm sure. Try to rest and relax, and allow you body to heal. I'm sure your Dr. knows what he is doing, he probly dosen't want to put you through surgery if it isn't absolutely nessicary, as your body doesn't need anymore trama, then what it has already been through.
I am very sorry for you loss and I wish you the best.

IF you passed all of it, then there is no reason to do a D&C. However D&C's are not really good because it scrapes that lining necessary to hold a embryo. Call your dr. and tell them you are still having pains and alot of excessive bleeding, explain your concerns. Without a D&C you can bleed for quite a long time. Call your dr. if gets unbearable.

it depends on how long the pregnancy is. if it's still much of blood no need for d&c but if the foetus started forming there is need. he is a doctor and should know why he said no d&c
