well, from what i've learned intelligence comes in two forms- the critical, analytical and often philosophical type and the other being the artistic, creative and often intrinsic. all of us either have one or the other, or for some both. i think people should feel proud of their intelligence and the knowledge that he/she encompasses and when and as they apply that intelligence and knowledge to good effect. but when people brag about having knowledge and intelligence and act arrogantly and in a conceited way because of it, thus by it offending others in the process, then that in itself demonstrates their total display of ignorance and arrogance, and of which they have made no vital contribution to it.

If you're intelligent you should be proud. Work with the public for a few years at a food shop and you will understand just how stupid some people are, or can be. Whether it was contributed through study or not, they've obtained one of the greatest gifts and shouldn't feel bad or guilty about it.

I disagree, You can either improve your knowledge or not, which is fuel for intelligence so although life deals one a hand, it is individual effort and life influence which contributes to it. So yes someone who has worked hard for knowledge should feel proud.

People are often proud of their looks. We are proud of whatever is considered to be desirable, no matter how we got it.

But in the case of intlligence, it isnt easy to recognise its level. Its existence is often recognised by the demonstration of knowledge. So its really the knowlege that we are proud of.

Perhaps inwardly proud, but not conceited. I do believe you can contribute to your own intelligence. If you use your mind, read, write, study, participate in the arts, you develop your mind. It is analogous to body building, but instead of building muscles, you can build your mind.

Should an artist feel proud about his painting since he simply had no contribution to it?

nobody 'contributes' to anything...there is no free will...so even a bodybuilder shouldnt be proud of his body...he didnt 'contribute' anything...he just HAD to build his body...so EVERYBODY(who is proud) is proud of what they HAPPEN to be.

You single-handedly contribute to yr intelligence. It's not a static thing from God.

intelligence is a gift from god to us. we should feel proud of it. but it depends how admirable we use our brains. of course using it the bad way is sinful.
