u can use foxit reader... it is free n usually has more functions than adobe and u can edit pages!!!

Try right-clicking on the PDF and select Print. Adobe Reader should not freeze up on you unless you are lacking in hard disk space and/or memory. Next time you want to open a PDF, try closing everything else first. If you still have trouble - when did you last run a diskcheck, error check, defrag? These should be done at least every two weeks to maintain speed.

.pdf is included in the .odf standard.
http://Google.com/linux has a million pages on .odf
openoffice does it all, FREE. add the .com to that name.
http://pclinuxos.com includes OO and Abiword, along with Kwrite, and other pdf viewers, editors, writers, interpreters, translaters...
All free.
