I don't think it does... just as long as it completes the circuit at least twice in rapid succession.

The reason I ask is that... sometimes my key fob doesn't perform as well as it should (2006 Scion xB) and since my girlfriend doesn't drive, she chalks it up to user-error... in other words... me. Sometimes I'll press it twice to unlock all the doors (as opposed to once to open just the driver's door) and the shotgun and rear doors don't unlock. It's rare, but I still got tired of it, be it a minor issue... regardless; so I began wailing on that unlock key, sometimes 5 hits maybe, just so I know that the electronics are sending that rapid fire signal to the car, but my gf got wise to what I was doing, and she purports that the reason the car doesn't unlock sometimes, is because I get too crazy with the button.

I don't think that's the case, but I'm just looking for a neutral opinion. Does it negatively effect the key-fob's unlocking prowess if you wail on the buttons?

Repeatidly pressing the unlock will do nothing more then unlock the car and wear out the button faster. Many cars have the option of press once to unlock the drivers door, twice fast to unlock the whole car. Pressing it five times will only cause the entire car to unlock then it will just continue to try to unluck an unlocked car.
The contacts inside the Keyfob won't take much abuse and it could be that the unlock button is not making good contact (dirty or going bad) and that is why it sometimes only unlocks the drivers door on the second press.
Wait until she is not around and swap out your keyfob with hers and that should take care of your problem ;-)

The only thing I would add to shovelkicker's answer is sometimes pressing the key fob while you are out of range of the car can cause it to not function correctly when the button is initially pushed to unlock the door.

My 'ninety two Jeep does not have an alarm and in my opinion, i think of they seem to be a waste of time. i've got seen too lots of them going off because of the fact the vehicle gets touched or bumped or the wind blows too perplexing and that i've got observed the human beings fairly lots forget approximately them. My neighbor's used to bypass off interior the process the night and it in simple terms P|ssed me off because of the fact it became in basic terms the wind. They bypass off so extremely that it is the "Cry Wolf" syndrome. BTW, I save my keys on a hook by the front door. I asked the question under and seems that it would be a moot element if the vehicle alarm DID bypass off. .... Sorry
