Look for "upgradability" so far as the processor & ram is concerned.
I use an ASUS board for AMD with an AM2 CPU socket because I know it will accomodate quad-core processors once they hit the market.... that was important to me.
If you believe you will be happy with the hardware limitations offered by any specific board then it's not an issue for you.

That depends on how much you use it and if it still suits your needs in a couple years and it also depends if you want to go AMD or Intel. I would say go with a motherboard that can support Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800.

There are two major types of Mother boards in the market. They are Inter and AMD mother board. Both are good. Usually we can't predict the life of electronic gadgets. If you but new one then you will get replace warrenty for 1 year.

I would get an ATX motherboard, make sure it is Pentium 4 board, and has either PCI or AGP slots
