Project Apollo was started in 1961.
This first mission to the Moon was Apollo 8 (just to orbit) in 1968. It took 3 days to get there
The first mission to land on the moon was Apollo 11 in 1969
took 3 days to get there and an extra day to land on the surface.

from my recollection it took about 3 days to get there and 3 days to get back. i believe they generally spent about two days on the moon.
