The following is not meant to insult, but to ask you to confirm what you have been taught with the bible, and with secualr sources ( encylopedias, or whatnot)

christmas is a holiday adopted into the "christian" churches in an attempt to gain the membership of the pagans who did not want to give up the celebration of the winter solstice.

Jesus birth date is not mentioned in the bible,
while people did give gifts to jesus on his birht, his birthday was not celebrated in the bible

( in contrast, he commanded that his death be celebrated)

The elements of christmas are based on things that are mentioned, but not always good.
for example,
the star that is at the top of the tree.
the one that lead the wise men to jesus

well, wise men who follow the stars are astrologers,
astrology is condemened in the bible

the star lead them to kind herod who wanted to kill jesus,
and the local jews told them where to find jesus.
when they arrived, God told them not to go backto the king,
and in fact jesus faimly had to flee to egypt, as kind herod had all the boys under 2 killed.

thinking too,
if the boys were 2 and under,
from the time the wise men saw the star, traveled on foot or animals from the far east,
they didn't find a newborn infant jesus, they found a young child,
that is why herod wanted 2 years and under killed.
he, and the local jews felt that jesus was older.

I respect people's feelings, I try not to preach to people about it while they are in the middle of their celebrations, lest they ask,
but I am a christian, I follow what jesus did,
in talking to people about God,
in sticking to what is written, and rejecting traditions not from the bible.

I encourage you to look this up in an encylopedia of your choice,
its not my opnion, its known commonly.

many may say that well, its changed,

but think of it this way,,,,,

if you celebrated what has come be known as christmas when jesus was a man on earth, you were obvouisly a pagan,

since Jesus is still alive, in heaven, why would he have changed his mind?

what if someone "celebrated" your birht by doingthings that are contray to what you belive in ,

does that celebration please you?

if you celebrate jesus birth with a holiday that came from the pagans winter solstice,
what does Jesus think?

( this is not meant to insult,
I wish only to encourage you the reader to learn for yourself from the bible, and from secular encylopedias what exactly you are celebrating)

Christmas to me, is watching my child's eyes light up on Christmas morning, thinking Santa has been there. Taking a "bite" from a cookie, lowering my voice a few octaves to let out a hearty "ho,ho,ho". Staying up until dawn wrapping presents that will be ripped apart in the am. Drinking way too much coffee. Hiding the candy & cookies from the kids. Putting out "reindeer food" Building snowmen after sledding all day. The first snowfall of winter. Having dinner with my family and reminiscing about years gone by. Staring at the lights on the Christmas tree and drifting off to sleep. Watching old re-runs of Christmas shows on TV with my kids that I watched when I was growing up. Reading my sons "twas the night before Christmas" on Christmas Eve. All of these things and much, much more are what Christmas means to me.

Christmas is just a wonderful, joyful, special time of year.

Each Christmas I think of the first Christmas when God the Father gave the world the greatest gift possible;the little Baby Jesus. That was all that He had ,He couldn't have given us anything more .That was His right arm so to speak.
Merry Christmas!

Family, good times, the birth of Christ, and plain feeling good and a little more removed from the cares of the world we all live in the other months of the year. For me, Christmas isn't a day, but a long, long season of anticipation and joy.

Putting out the cocoa and cookies for Santa on Christmas eve, making reindeer/sled tracks in the snow, being exhausted and drinking espresso all night to put the toys together, watching the kids slide into all the presents screaming and ripping, me all wired on some good pot, espresso, and no sleep, with "Here comes Santa claus, here comes Santa claus, right down Santa Claus lane" banging through my head. Sometime I slip into my other world, and "zone out" thinking of my childhood, and when we used to be a family.

It is a time where Christians all over the world picked out for the birth date of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It has spread over many many years to different peoples that are not Christians and they celebrate it to.

Come right down to it, It is the birth of Jesus.

as I'm a Hindu, it does not mean anything for me
but as it is an international holiday so it means to enjoy

on Christmas I spend my time with my friends, we have a party, exchange of gifts, music & dance, games and a funfilled day
but I get extremely angry when school teachers gives us lots of homework, assingments & projects which makes our holiday boaring
